New Jersey

Not all of you know this, but Mac was accepted to Rutgers University in New Jersey to get his PhD in Spanish American Literature. So the last couple of days Mac and I were in New Jersey visiting the school and getting to know the area. Rutgers paid for Mac's ticket, the hotel and some of the meals. They had us stay at the Hyatt and it was really nice. We left the kids with Grandpa and Grandma Wilson in Eden. Also Nikki and Holly helped take care of the kids. Thank you guys very much!!!! We left Wednesday night and flew all that night. We got there on Thursday morning and came home on Saturday. We had a good time and the people at the University treated us really well. They were all really nice. We spent most of the time at the university and one of the professors drove us around to help us get to know the area a little bit. We also visited the family housing apartments. We didn't really take much pictures but here are the ones we took. We still haven't made a decision if we are going to accept the school offer. But we have until April 1st to respond.

So everyone tells us that traffic is really bad in New Jersey and New York especially during rush hour. It looks like the airport has that problem too. As you can see in the picture we had to wait in line for like 20 minutes until we took off.

US Citizenship Interview / Entrevista Para Ciudadania Americana

Today I had my US Citizenship interview and everything went well. I passed the history and English test so now I just have to be sworn in at an Oath ceremony. Let me tell you a little bit about the history and English test. Before I had the interview they sent me a little book with like 100 questions and answers about American history that I had to study . They were going to test me on those question. Some of the questions were like... "What are the colors of the flag?" "How many states are in the United States?" etc. They asked me about 6 of these questions and the last one they made me read out loud to make sure I knew how to read. Then the last part of the test was to write one sentence that the person interviewing me dictated and that was to test if I knew how to write. This is what she asked me to write:

HE HAS A VERY BIG DOG.

Guess what?... I Passed!!! Yahooo!!! I'd say that the test was easy but I would be giving it too much credit. Like I said, at the begining everything went well..... except for the fact that after I was done they told me that I would have to wait 4 months for an Oath ceremony where they give me my citizenship papers. I said WHAT??? My interviewer said that there were a lot of people getting their citizenship and it was a first come first serve thing. I got out of that building and I was so angry because, for those who know, my process through immigration has been a pain in the butt from the beginning. I have never been illegal in this country and for some reason it looks like I have a curse with immigration. Everything has taken longer that it should. Thank goodness for Senator Hatch's office. They have been there to help me every time I needed help. And, of course, now his office is helping me to get sworn in as soon as possible. I'll let you know what happens.

Easter / Pascua

These are some pictures we took at Grandma and Grandpa Wilson's house for Easter (Saturday). Mac is not in the pictures because he is the one taking them. The other picture is of me at 29 weeks. On Saturday we had a brunch and then the kids had an easter hunt. It was really fun especially because there was still a lot of snow outside and Colleen hid the eggs in the snow. On Sunday it was nice and quiet. Colleen, Mac, Lili, John and I were the only ones there. But we had a really good Sunday dinner and a good time.

Ducks / Patos

Today it was a beautiful day so I decided to go outside with the kids. We went to the botany pond at BYU to feed the ducks. The truth is that the ducks didn't eat much bread because Lili and John kept eating it. After that we walked up to campus to see Mac and take him some lunch. I pushed John in the stroller and Lili walked all the way. She took her baby with her and I'm glad I had the camara with me so that I could take the last picture in this post. She grabbed her baby and told me she wanted to carry it like Mac carries her sometimes and so she put the baby on her shoulders. It was so funny especially because she thought she was carrying the baby right and she would not let me help her fix the baby so it wouldn't be head down. John was just enjoying the ride.

Cake / Torta

Finally today we got together with one of Mac's buddies from school, The Cluff. They've been talking about getting together since last year and for one reason or another we could never get together. This is what I made to take to their house. I also made a green salad. For dinner we had some pasta with home-made spaghetti sauce and breadsticks. Everything was really good. Thanks Ben and Shaunie for having us over.

At The Circus / En El Circo

Today we went to the Circus that they had at UVSC this weekend. It got kind of long but it was fun and the kids really liked it. Lili liked the elephants the most. I'm not sure if John liked it, he didn't say much. Mac really liked the tricky poodles. I thought they were really fun too. It was fun passing time together as a family.

A mi me gustaron tambien.

Another Tea Party / Otra Vez Jugando Al Te

I love these pictures of John and Lili playing together. Mac took them. I can't remember where I was but he was watching them.

Lorena called me last night and told me that they were having a free family movie night at the Wilkison Center at BYU. They were showing Over the Hedge. John was already in bed and I was really tired. She was going with Melanie and Axel and she wanted to know if I wanted to go. I told her I'll call her in a minute. I told Mac about it and he said.. Why don't you go with Lili? The first thing I thought was no way. I could picture Lili jumping up and down the chair at the movie and running around and making noises. Then Mac said come on it will be fun you can call it a momy-daughter date. Then I thought.... well at least is for free and if she starts going crazy then I can just come home. So we went and I'm really glad I did. Lili did SO GOOD. She didn't even get up once from her chair. They gave us free popcorn and she watch the whole movie while she eat her popcorn. She LOVED IT! After the movie was over we decided to go to McDonals and eat some hamburgers. The kids ate and play at the McDonals playground and they had a really good time. After that we went home and went to bed. What a great date I had with Lili.
