Temple / Templo

Today we went for a walk to the temple in Provo. We sure are going to miss having a temple so close when we move to New Jersey. We had a nice walk even though we should have waited a little bit longer until it was later in the day to go because it was really hot. Anyway, here are some pictures that Mac took. Aren't they beautiful?

Tahitian Noni

We have been wanting to go to the gardens at Tahian Noni for a long time but we never get a chance to do it and since my mom is leaving tomorrow and we were meeting some friends for lunch today near there, we decided to go before lunch. It is so beautiful there. I especially loved their lawn. It felt so good walking on it barefoot. After the garden we went to "Tucanos" and ate a lot of meat. Well at least I did. I love "Tucanos". Every time I go there I eat too much. After "Tucanos" we went back home and we all had a nap except for my mom who went with some friends to see the pioneer houses that are in a park in Provo. Here are some pictures at the gardens.

Me encanta Tucanos.

Coca Cola?

I have to write this because it is too good to pass up. Today when we were eating dinner at home we had a Coke bottle on the table and Lili asked what it was and we said: "Coca Cola." Lili then said... "ah! Coca Cola." Then she thought for a minute and repeated with a sour look on her face: "Coca COLA?" And we laughed so hard that we couldn't stop. Now let me tell you why this is funny. "Cola" in Spanish means butt so you can imagine why she repeated it with a question mark and the confusion she had in her mind. We love you Lili.

Samuel's Blessing / Bendicion De Samuel

Today we had Samuel's blessing at the church in the Relief Society Room. The reason why we did it today (Saturday) is because tomorrow is Father's Day and even though we would have loved to do it tomorrow, we knew that a lot of people wouldn't be able to make it and since my mom is leaving the 19th we wanted to do it before she left. It was beautiful and almost everyone came for the event. After the blessing we had some refreshments of which my mom, and my in-laws helped to prepare. Thank you very much!!! I made the cake myself. Here are some pics from the blessing. Enjoy them.

Samuel, we love you so much and we are so happy you are in our family.

Today my mom, me, and the kids went to Gardner Village. The reason we went there is because there is a store that I really like that has baby blessing outfits and since the plan for today was to go to IKEA we stopped first at Gardner Village, which is close to IKEA. To my surprise the store wasn't there anymore which means that now I have to see where I'm going to buy Samuel's blessing outfit and I only have 2 days until the big day! We decided to walk around and see the other shops while we were there. Then we had lunch at "Archibalds" while I nursed the baby and then we headed for IKEA. We more or less spent the rest of the day walking around and spending money at IKEA (my mom's money, that is). I love that store so much! We had a fun day doing some shopping. These are some pictures taken at Gardener Village

Chuck E. Cheese's

Today my mom and I took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese's to play. Lili and John really enjoyed it. Samuel slept the whole time. Let me tell you something that happened while we were there. Lili was playing in the humongous-jungle-gym-maze thing just fine but then some kids came running and screaming and she got really scared and started to cry. I told her to come down but she was afraid. I finally asked a person who works there if I could go up there to get Lili and she said yes. Let's just say that I was actually really excited to go get her. I always wanted to play in one of those things so I went up there and my mom couldn't help laughing at the sight of me climbing through the plastic tunnels and traping over the sythetic rope bridges. I finally got to Lili and we both got out of there. It was fun! That was the adventure for the day. I wish I would have had my camara but I forgot it at home.

1 Week Old / 1 Semana

Samuel is a week old today. He looks different to me already. He is so cute and I'm so grateful to our Heavenly Father for sending Samuel to our family. I have to say that it has been a tough week for me because I haven't had much sleep at all. I don't know what I would have done if my mom wasn't here. She pretty much takes care of Lili and John and does everything else while Mac is at school. The day after I got home from the hospital it really hit me that now I have 3 kids under the age of 3 and I don't know how I'm going to do it once my mom is gone. Lili has been really good with Samuel. I feel bad for John because he is still a baby and needs a lot of my attention. Anyway I'm excited for Samuel's 2 week appointment next week to see how much he weighs. I think the nursing is going really well. I hope I don't get disappointed after the appointment.

Argentine Asado (Barbecue) / Asado Argentino

Yesterday we went to an Argentine asado (barbecue) at the Shumway's house. Jeff Shumway is a history professor at BYU and every semester he has an Argentine asado at his house to show his students a little bit of Argentine culture. Mac was in Jeff's History of Argentina course way back in 2003, which is when Mac introduced Jeff to Crhistian Saez, the asador (the barbecuer). Since then, Mac has worked with Jeff as an intern performing archival research in Argentina in 2004, and most recently as a teaching assistant in 2006/7. We have always gone and we love it. We always have so much fun. This was our last asado (at least for awhile) because, as you already know, we are moving to New Jersey soon. We are really going to miss these asados. Thank you Jeff and Kathy for always inviting us. We are really going to miss you.

Second Day / Segundo Dia

Today Lili and John and my mom got to see Samuel for the first time. Yesterday they couldn't see him up close because Samuel was in the NICU when they were here. Lili wanted to hold him and she was so happy. I helped Lili hold Samuel and he started to cry but Lili said to him:- I'm here, I'm here. I thought that was so cute of her. John was running around touching everything.

Samuel Batista Wilson

Samuel Batista Wilson was born today, June 1st, at 3:00 pm on the dot. He weighed 6 LB 14 oz and is 19 1/2 in. long. Even though it seems like he is not very big, he is so far our biggest baby. He was taken to the NICU right after he was born because the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and he was pale. Everything is fine now and he is such a cutie. We are so happy to have him with us. Lili is really excited but I think that John doesn't get it yet.
Let me explain where his name comes from. Samuel is a name in both of our families. It was the name of my paternal great greatgrandfather (my dad's mother's paternal grandfather: Samuel Salewzki) and it was the middle name of Mac's maternal grandfather, Clarence Samuel Ferrin, the name of his maternal grandfather's father [Mac's greatgrandfather: Samuel S Ferrin], the middle name of that greatgrandfather's father [Mac's great greatgrandfather: Jacob Samuel Ferrin] and the name of that great greatgrandfather's father [Mac's great great greatgrandfather: Samuel Ferrin]. And Batista is the middle name of my maternal grandpa, Primo Batista Gandola, and we just wanted to honor him.
Here are some pictures from today. I'll put more up tomorrow.
Welcome to this world Samuel!!!! We love you!!!!!!!
